Brides and grooms are often looking for ways to save money on their weddings, but some take it too far by expecting free services from professionals. BuzzFeed recently compiled a list of 18 infuriatingly cheap brides and grooms who expected free stuff, including photography services.
One couple offered a “time for print” opportunity for a wedding photographer, which would include digital and print proof of the photographer’s work, a pool of potential clients, and compensation for gas and food. Another couple advertised for a wedding photographer on Craigslist, offering no pay but promising exposure and a chance to build a portfolio.
These couples’ requests are not only insulting to professionals who make a living from their work, but they also devalue the importance of wedding photography. Photographs are one of the few tangible things that remain after a wedding, and they should be treated as such.
