Amelia Kerr Expects NZC Deal to Change the Game for Women in New Zealand

Amelia Kerr, the New Zealand all-rounder, expects the new deal with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) to change the game for women in the country. The deal will see the introduction of 15 full-time professional contracts for women players, which Kerr believes will allow them to work harder and improve their game.

Kerr, who is currently playing in the Women’s Big Bash League in Australia, said that having full-time professional athletes means they can turn up every day and work harder, which is their job. She believes that this will not only improve women’s cricket in New Zealand but also around the world.

The new contracts will come into effect from April 2022 and will cover the national team players as well as the domestic players. Kerr is excited about the opportunities that this will provide for women’s cricket in the country and hopes that it will encourage more girls to take up the sport.
