Alone in the Dark: Release Date and Gameplay Details Revealed

Alone in the Dark, the cult classic survival horror game from the 90s, is making a comeback under the helm of Pieces Interactive and THQ Nordic. The game was revealed during THQ Nordic’s GamesCom showcase, but the release date remains undisclosed.

The game will feature Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood as they solve puzzles and explore the deep hallways of the Derceto Manor in the gothic American South during the 1920s. The story revolves around Emily’s missing uncle, Jeremy Hartwood, who was a former resident of the facility for the mentally ill. He was seemingly driven to madness by Cthulhu and its haunting followers.

The gameplay was shown at Gamescom, and while it looked like development had been progressing well for at least a few years, it’s difficult to say how complete the game actually is at this stage. Ammunition will be sparse, and players will have to confront a host of perilous monsters as they navigate through Derceto and meet its peculiar residents.

The game’s narrative is penned by Mikael Hedberg, who is renowned for crafting the plots for games like SOMA and Amnesia. Alone in the Dark will be available on Steam for PC, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5. There’s been no word on when pre-orders will open up or what price it will be set at, but more information will be released soon.
