A final audit report from the city shows that the Sacramento Kings and its construction partners generally met or exceeded goals set out for the construction of Golden 1 Center, which opened last year. But the audit also found there wasn?t direct documentation to support whether some goals were met, such as ensuring local and small businesses made up certain percentages of the companies working on the project. ?This is because established procedures on how to track the goals or how to account? read more...

The Sacramento Kings haven?t played since Saturday nights 109-104 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, and with the extended break has come a fascinating roster adjustment. The Kings announced on Tuesday afternoon that forward Skal Labissiere has been assigned to their G-League affiliate, the Reno Bighorns, and have recalled center Georgios Papagiannis. Labissiere was averaging a respectable 7.7 points (.443 FG%, .444 3pt%, .800 FT%), 4.0 rebounds, and 0.7 assists in 17.1 minutes per game before the demotion. Papagiannis averaged 14.2 points (.537 FG%, .929 FT%), 10.3 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and read more...

Sitting through a recent, wonderful concert by the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera, it occurred to me at a certain point in the second half that this was precisely what I was doing: sitting through it. Not loving it, as I was during the first half. Granted, the second half of the bill wasn?t quite as rousing as the first, but that?s not my point. I think some ?live? events ? musicals, ballets, dramas and certainly baseball games ? simply last too long. In a distant time, plays could? read more...
